CRH CIMENT Romania
A global leader in building materials
CRH plc was founded in 1970 by the merger of two major construction companies in Ireland, Ciment Limited (founded in 1936) and Roadstone Limited (1949) and increased exponentially year by year, from sales equivalent to 27 million euros in 1970 to 24 billion euros in 2014. Today, the group is present and operates in 37 countries and employs more than 90,000 employees in 4,000 workplaces around the world. In August 2015, the CRH plc group took over 6.5 billion euros of the assets of Lafarge and Holcim, including Lafarge's operations in Romania. With this acquisition, CRH has entered the top 3 of the largest players in the construction materials industry in the world and has become the world's No. 2 aggregate market.
In Romania, the CRH plc group controls Elpreco, BCA, tile, pavements and curbs, tubes and homes, and Ferrobeton, a prefabricated manufacturer. The company's vision is to promote sustainable construction projects with a wide geographic coverage across the country through nearly 40 industrial sites where approximately 900 employees work.
CRH products have contributed over time to building symbolic projects in Romania, but also around the world. From highways, stadiums and airports to residential complexes or monument buildings, building materials from CRH production sites across the country have proven their efficiency and qualities, passing through the toughest test of time.
