Storytelling in the 4th Industrial Revolution
- November 28, 2019, 18:00
- Impact Hub Timpuri Noi - Splaiul Unirii 165 Timpuri Noi Square, building 2, floor 1, Bucharest
Nowadays, everything moves with an incredible speed, almost too fast to really comprehend all the changes. From networks to blockchain, big data to artificial intelligence, machine learning and natural user interfaces, the automation of knowledge is transforming the way we learn and work. All those processes link to one concept: The 4th Industrial Revolution.
In an era where our life seems easier than ever before and maybe some of the current jobs will be taken by AI, how do we keep up with the speed and remain useful assets to this society? But more important, how can we make sure that our skills will still be relevant in business?
Those few questions tackle a lot of challenges that are starting to ignite serious sparks in people’s minds, however one thing is sure: Human only traits such as creativity, imagination, intuition, emotion & ethics will become more important in the future because machines are very good at simulating, but not at being. All of the above connect to one simple concept: STORYTELLING.
It is in our very human nature to understand the world around us by telling & listening to stories. Although, the way we communicate with others has changed drastically over time. Storytelling originated with visual stories, such as cave drawings, and then shifted to oral traditions, in which stories were passed down from generation to generation by word of mouth. What about now, though? How can we translate big data & gigantic reports into an easy to follow presentation? What about teaching robots how to convey messages and naturally interact with people by uploading their systems with the art of storytelling?
Even if you are a business corporate professional or an entrepreneur, in order to be successful you need to be ready to tell all types of stories, that will keep your audience’s brains engaged, while fighting with all the distractions and a very short attention span that new technologies brought us as side effects of their benefits.
